What to Expect

At Psoriasis Eczema Clinic, we practice Integrated Dermatology which recognizes the importance of whole-person care and addresses both the symptoms and triggers of chronic skin conditions.

Our medications are based on a combination of natural and nature-identical ingredients.  We do not use steroids or antibiotics in our treatments and therefore they are very gentle on skin and can be safely used by infants right through to the elderly.  Our evidence-based treatment protocols are designed to put chronic skin conditions into remission and educate the patient on how to identify and manage their triggers effectively so that they keep their skin lesion free.   Most patients notice an improvement in their symptoms within the first 7-14 days, and experience a significant improvement of the skin within 12 weeks.

At Psoriasis Eczema Clinic, our qualified practitioners have undertaken extensive training in the field of Integrative Dermatology, and specialize in the treatment of Chronic Skin Conditions (learn more about our practitioners here). All practitioners have a minimum Bachelor qualification in Health Science as well as Nutritional Medicine, Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine, among others. Each practitioner is qualified to follow the Dr Michael’s Protocol in the treatment of various skin conditions, which have been independently evaluated in several international studies.

A 30-minute initial consultation with one of our qualified practitioners includes a detailed and thorough skin health analysis, clinical examination, dietary, lifestyle and medical history and referrals for testing as required. A personalised treatment plan will be provided including dietary and lifestyle advice, as well as a customised topical and/or oral prescription to suit your specific condition.

A 15-minute review consultation allows both the practitioner and the patient to review the treatment progress and adjust any medications as required. This appointment also includes a clinical examination as well as report analysis as required. A review consultation also provides the patient with access to a 6-month script for re-ordering purposes. Review consultations can be utilised by patients who have been to see us within a 5-year period. If it has been longer than this time, patients will require an extended consultation, to allow enough time for a thorough review.
This 30-minute appointment is required if it has been longer than 5 years since your last appointment. The patient receives a thorough analysis and revised treatment protocol as with an initial consultation.
A 5-minute script reactivation consultation helps to reactivate an expired script. Patients are eligible for a script reaction consultation if they have seen their practitioner in the past 6 months. This service is available to those patients who have their condition relatively under control and have not had any changes in the presentation and location of their condition, their general health, or current medications. Patients who have had a review consultation within the last 3 years are able to utilise the Script Reactivation Consult.

In the early stages of treatment, your practitioner will recommend a suitable course and frequency of treatments and review consultations based on your specific presentation. This allows medications to be regularly reviewed and adjusted to ensure you continue to receive the most applicable treatment as your skin improves and/or your symptoms change.

On average, most patients require 3-4 appointments in order to get their skin condition under control, which usually takes place over a 12 week period. Many of our patients are able to achieve a “maintenance mode” where appointments can be booked on an “as needed” basis, and medications can be ordered from an active script via our postage or pick-up service at either clinic location.
